A couple days ago, Melanie started clapping. I am always clapping her hands together and she is now doing it all on her own. Here is a video I got of her clapping.
And she is starting to pick up food all by herself and put it to her mouth. She started out just picking it up with her fist and it never would make it into her mouth, but she was sure trying, and today, just a few days later, she grabs her cheerios(we always keep a bunch of cheerios on her tray), sticks her fist in her mouth and then opens it and most of the time she can get them in there. She loves cheerios, if she is done eating her other food, she will ALWAYS open her mouth for cheerios. This is so exciting to watch her start feeding herself. She will always want to grab at the spoon or fork and put it in her mouth as well. These are pictures of Julie feeding her some cheerios.
We also have been trying to get her to drink from a straw/sippy cup. She can suck the water out, but right now it is mostly for fun, so she just keeps sucking in and out and gets herself soaking wet. But, she is starting to get more water down now.
