Melanie Update

-Molars are coming in and one of them has popped through(bottom right), she loves to stick her hand in her mouth and feel it.
-She did a stretch of 3 days in a row, and then minus last night went 6 days in a row of sleeping through the night. I think 13 months for her is the magical age of sleeping through the night. Yeah! Could also be the fact that I have stopped pumping as much, went down to only pumping in the morning, then mid afternoon, and then right before bedtime. Now I only pump in the morning and around 10:00pm.

-Getting better with her speech. Talks a ton now, and she gets mad to. She sure talks up a storm when she is not happy. I tried giving her spaghetti the other day and she let me know she did not want it, along with kicking her legs and getting all tense.

-Almost crawling, she is working so hard. With help she is crawling. We are working on kneeling up to toys right now.

 Curt, her physical therapist is super impressed with her progress, and this last Wednesday when he came, he mentioned that his main concern was her hands. Up until this appointment she just wasn't using them very well, but she is now getting most of her cheerios in her mouth and really is doing awesome. She just goes at it when we plop a handful of cheerios on her tray each time we feed her.
-Her favorite thing to sleep with is this muslin mini blanket, she can get this so soaked. It came in a pack of two, so they get washed frequently. She loves it, and it is the one thing that can really get her crawling. Put that in front of her and she wants it.

 It usually stays in her crib, but sometimes ventures out with her.

 -One awesome thing that happened this week was that we got an appointment to see the neurologist at Primary Childrens. On Sunday, Rob had to take Melanie out during Sacrament Meeting and our Pediatrician goes to our same building, and Rob saw him while he was out there and talked with him. He asked if we had seen or had an appt. with the neurologist yet, which he told him that we were on a waiting list for July. He was shocked and said he would call down there and get us in sooner. So, I got a call the next Thursday for an appt. the next Thursday, and since I was on a walk and didn't have any paper with me, I asked if he would call me back in 5 minutes. 5 minutes later I got another call, this time from a lady telling me they wanted to get me in even sooner and said they had an appt. tomorrow at 11:00a.m. at Primary Childrens Medical Center. Wow, the difference between a patient calling with a referral and a Dr. calling. We are so grateful to have this earlier appt. So, we drove down this morning just after 9:00, after dropping Julie off at my parents house. It was Melanie's nap time so we figured she would fall asleep. Nope, not a wink. We made it into the parking lot a few minutes before 11:00, walked in and found the coordinating color(Clinic B, teal blue), went to the check in desk, and within less than 5 minutes we were taken back to a room. They weighed Melanie and everything and then we went to a room and the resident nurse saw us and then the Doctor came in. No waiting for more than a few minutes. It was very efficient. This visit  was basically a consultation, but so nice to be getting things going. Our next visit will be for an MRI, which they will have to sedate her(boo), we will have to keep her awake before so that she will go to sleep easier for them. They will do blood work to while she is asleep. And then we are also going to start Genetics. Melanie did awesome even without a nap. We decided to head to Wendys for lunch, but the placed we stopped at had a long line so we decided to head to the next Wendy's and in the process passed by Trolley Square and decided we would eat at the Old Spaghetti Factory. Melanie again did awesome, and being lunch time, it wasn't too busy. And the food was so yummy! So glad we stopped, it has been awhile since we sat down and ate at a restaurant, we usually just order take out. Melanie slept for a little bit on our drive home, but in all it was a great day and it was a beautiful day. We made it home around 3:45. Julie had fun with her Grandma and Grandpa, she went on a bike ride around the block, which usually takes my parents 25 minutes, but with Julie, it took them an hour. She kept saying, "We are not going to my house, we are going back you your house" I think she was having a good time. She also went shopping with my parents. Then, for dinner we headed to the park with friends for dinner. It was a great day, even spent driving in the car.
