Virtual Makeover

I wear Mary Kay makeup and love it and I went on the website this past week and noticed they have this new Virtual Makeover that you can upload a picture of yourself and try on makeup and different hairstyles. It is pretty fun. Here are some of my creations. Don't laugh! This first one is just with a little eye makeup and I think lip gloss.

On this one I added eye makeup, mascara and eyeliner, and lip gloss, and as you can see LONG hair with highlights, oh and blush. Kind of different. I don't know if I could ever grow my hair long again.

This picture is just a fun one that my brother and sister told me to do. My brother thinks I should grow my hair out.

Anyways, go on the website (www.marykay.com), and try it out. It is kind of fun. Some of the hair is pretty crazy and wild. It was fun to play around with it.

PB and J on Oatmeal Bread

Sometimes there is nothing better than Peanut Butter and Jam(or Honey) on Oatmeal bread(freshly baked), yum. This oatmeal bread is so soft and delicious. It is a recipe from my mom and you can make it a few different ways. You can make it with dry milk powder, milk, or I have been using Soy Milk(for Rob, but he didn't eat the bread anyways and now he is drinking milk again). Any one of them will be delicious.

Oatmeal Bread (using powdered milk):

2 3/4 cup hot water
2 C. quick oats
3 Tbsp. oil
1/3 C. honey
1/2-2/3 C. sour cream
2 Tbsp. yeast
2 1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 C. powdered milk (dry)

Mix and let rise 1 hour. Put in 3 loaf pans and let rise until double. Put in a cold oven and set temp. to 350. Bake 20-25 min. (you want the top a nice brown color, my oven I cook for 30-35 min so it is not doughy in the inside)

Oatmeal Bread (soy milk or milk):

1/2 C. hot water
2 C. Quick oats
3 Tbsp. oil
1/3 C. honey
1/2-2/3 C. sour cream(I did not use sour cream, just makes it more moist)
2 Tbsp. yeast
2 1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/4 C. soy milk or milk(heated up, you don't want it cold or it will not rise)

Mix and let rise 1 hour. Put in 3 loaf pans and let rise until double. Put in a cold oven and set temp. to 350. Bake 20-25 min. (a nice medium brown)

Here is another trick, take them out of pans and set sideways on cooling racks for 15 minutes and then place a plastic bread bag over top of them and wait another 15 minutes. Then place bread in bags and seal up.

One other way I like to eat this bread is toasted with butter. So good!

Birthday flowers

One of my primary kids left these flowers on my doorstep for my birthday. They have been trying to get them to me since my birthday and I have always been gone and so they left them last Sunday. They are beautiful and we enjoyed them for quite a few days. Thanks

Parade of Homes

I have been going with my mom to the Parade of Homes for the past couple years. She gets some VIP passes that we can go before the parade begins and see all the homes in one day. This time my brother also went with us. I think he had a good time with us. The homes were beautiful. I get lots of decorating ideas from looking through the homes. Here are some pictures of my favorite things from the homes.

This house was so cute on the outside and by far my favorite on the inside.
This next two pictures are of a cute townhouse, the floor plan was very well laid out.

This house was ginormous and really cute inside. I love how they did this room with the beadboard up higher. I have never seen beadboard painted yellow, but I absolutely love it.

I took a lot of pictures, these were just a few of my favorite.

New Furniture!

Over our Anniversary trip to Salt Lake, we stopped at RC Willey and found some furniture. We just got it delivered on the 11th of July and we love it. We are so excited. This picture is of our front room with our old furniture. We got these from a garage sale just before we got married. Gotta love them!

The guys delivering the furniture called in the morning and said they would be here between 2:30-5:30p.m. and so we had an empty house. We had moved our old furniture into the hallway of the kitchen and when the delivery truck still was not here at 5:30, my parents came and we loaded it into my dads trailer to take to my sisters new apartment. The delivery truck got here at around 6:20p.m.

And here is our new furniture!

This is the chair that I like to sit in.

The coffee table and end table will not go in this room, they don't match. They work for now. We also ordered some new pillows that will be the same fabric as the accent chair. The accent chair we found with another similar couch, and so the pillows will help bring everything together.

Sooooo Tired!

I guess I was really tired today, because I fell asleep and missed my afternoon run. For work, I leave at 6:35a.m. and then I get dropped off at my house during 9:00-10:00a.m., and then I have another break from 12:00-1:00p.m. Well, today during my 12:00 break I ate lunch, talked to Rob, and then I was using my computer. The computer froze up on me so I shut it down and I stretched out on the floor. The carpet was pretty tough so I was just going to lay there for a second. I looked at the clock at 12:44 and told myself I have 5 more minutes until I need to get ready. Well, next thing I know I woke up and went into the kitchen and my phone just rang like someone left a voicemail. It was the bus driver saying she can just finish the run herself. She had stopped and called me twice and I never heard the rings. Then she left a message. I looked at the clock and it was 1:10. I could not believe I had slept(on the hard carpet no less), I was still a little disoriented form just waking up and I was still just in shock that I just slept right through everything. My car was still parked at work and so I called my mom and asked if she was busy and could take me to get my car. I still had carpet marks on the side of my face. I related the whole story to her on the way and still could not believe what had happened. I made sure I called the driver to let her know what had happened, she was a little worried. I guess I must have been really tired. I was just glad we only had one student we had to take home during the afternoon run. Hopefully this never happens again.

Boys just never grow up!

I don't think my husband will ever really grow up. He loves to play with toys. Robs mom got this marble tower from the DI and Rob saw it and loved it, Rob had this when he was a kid. He loves finding toys from his childhood. We brought it home and Rob cleaned it up and has been bugging me to get marbles so he could try it out. Well, I always forget to look for marbles when at the store. So, I went over to my moms and she gave me some marbles that she had. Rob was excited to try it out. I am glad little things like this make Rob happy!

Mom's flowers

I love my moms flowers. The other day we went over
to my parents and I took pictures around the yard as
my mom was showing me all the flowers. I love my mothers
yard, there are so many varieties of flowers and plants.
I told her she needs to come to my house and make
my yard beautiful. Here are some of the pictures
I took of the flowers in her yard.

You have to take everything all in to get the
full effect. It is so beautiful!
Love it, Mom!

Strawberry Jam

A few weeks ago, I made some Strawberry Jam with
my sister. We tried two different recipes.
The first was MCP.

First, we need to get all our containers ready to pour
the jam into when we are done.

Then we pureed the strawberries.

Now, it is time for the sugar.

This next batch we used Sure Jell.

This is my sister who was showing me how to make jam, since I have never made it before. Really, not hard to make jam, but it was fun to make jam together.

I do not remember the exact recipe, but make sure you follow it.

And the finished product, lots of jam to enjoy for
months to come. Yummy!
Our conclusion between MCP and Sure Jell,
we like MCP. It was easier and it set up better
than the Sure Jell.
So go with MCP.

One last step, Clean Up!
Always clean up the mess you made, and don't forget
to enjoy some strawberrys during the process.

Oops, we turned my moms pampered chef wooden spatula
red, it would not wash out. Oh, well she did not mind.

Thanks Kerri for the fun jam making experience!

Robs airplanes and helicopters

One thing Rob loves to do is put together airplanes
and helicopters and then fly them. He has to put all
of the little pieces together. He has a few helicopters that
range in size. He can be downstairs for hours putting all
the electronics together and tweaking everything just
right. Then, I get to watch him fly. Here are some pictures
of his helicopters. There are quite a few pictures.

Getting the helicopter ready to fly, testing it out.

You have to wear your safety glasses!

And we make lift off.

Now, we move onto Robs BIG helicopter. This one
is loud when the propellers start spinning. They
spin pretty darn fast.

He also has his airplanes that he loves to fly, he just got
this little one that you can fly inside.
It is small and lightweight.
