12 month Checkup and Shots

Julie had her 12 month checkup today at 3:45. We got there and got her all weighed and measured, and then let her roam around the room with just her diaper waiting for the Dr. to come in. We waited and waited, and Julie had so much fun checking everything out, and spinning the Dr. chair around and around. Finally the doctor came in around 4:25 or so, he had an issue he had to take care of. No worries, Julie was having a good time. Anyways, Julie's measurements:

Weight: 22lb. 14.5oz.     (75%)

Height: 32 in. (off the charts), the average height of a 22 month old.

Head: 18 in.     (75%)

So, her weight has basically stayed the same, and kind of leveled off. We have gone in twice for sick appointments in December and she was the same weight. 

Anyways, she liked the Doctor and kept walking over to where he was. He would talk to her in his Donald Duck voice. He checked her all out and talked to us for a while. She is doing great, although she has a little bit of a cough right now. Answered our questions, and then it was time for the shots. She was scheduled to get 4 shots, plus a booster flu shot. Wow, so he left and the nurses came in. Oh, they also pricked her big toe to check her hemoglobin(her iron count), just to see if she needs and iron supplement. She was okay with the prick, but did not like the bandaid they put on her toe after. That only lasted a few seconds, before we took it off. The bleeding stopped, and we just put her sock on and got her onesie on before they gave her the shots. We laid her down on the table and Rob held her arms while I put my hands on her head and talked to her. The nurses told us that the MMR shot would be probably the most painful and would sting for a while. Wow, she did not like those shots, 2 in each leg and she cried(in the past she cried and then was good after they were done), we picked her up and tried to give her a sucker, but would have nothing to do with it. She was not happy, and then the nurse came back in with the booster flu shot that she forgot. Julie got that in her arm, man, had she had it. She just cried and cried. We finally got her dressed and somewhat consoled, and headed out at 5:00. I definitely didn't expect to be there that long! We got home and gave her some Tylenol, and she was back playing like normal for the most part. So sad to see your baby in pain!
